Roselida Mautner, a vocal instructor and adjunct professor at BCC comments that "Deborah's performance at the recital last semester of the Flower Duet from "Lakme" was also very well done." Furthermore, Mrs. Mautner states, "As a performer myself, I have had her perform as a guest at a few performances of mine and she has done superbly."

Inspired by: I don't choose when to write the songs I write. The words sort of come to me. At the time I wrote this song (specifically the first verse and chorus)  I had thoughts about my mother and the many struggles she was experiencing at the time. Children often feel and take on the worries their parents have.

The second verse was inspired by a testimony I heard from a young woman. She is a Christian and a talented choir director. However, life became unbearable for her at a particular time in her life and she went to a park, determined to end her life by throwing herself into the lake. She got as far as sitting on the ledge overlooking the water. She explained that as she sat there, ready to take her lfie, that God spoke to her and said in essence, "You are not your own; you were bought with a price". It's like God was saying, you don't have the right to take the life I paid for with my life. This powerful testimony impressed on me how much God loves me and the fact that I'm His!
